If you're looking for a unique and personalized gift idea for a loved one, commissioning a painting could be a perfect option. For example, my client Steve recently approached me with a request to paint a photo of his sunset view, featuring a sailboat coming home under a fiery sky, as a gift for his wife.
To ensure the composition of the painting was just right, I decided to make a few adjustments to the original photo and zoom in on the sailboat. I then created a quick painting sketch to share with Steve and get his approval before moving forward with the final piece.
The finished painting was 24 inches x 18 inches, and the video below shows me adding the finishing touches to the sides of the canvas so that it could be hung without a frame:
