The View from Macworth Island // 30 Days, 30 Paintings



This is a studio painting from photos taken at Macworth Island at sunrise. For this painting, I first made a magenta underpainting and pushed and pulled the values out a little, then mixed color, then applied paint. The three videos below show the three different steps to creating this painting.






I don't always paint this way, but sometimes I feel like exploring undertones and other ways to pull color. I was playing with thicker layers of paint on this painting.
