Painting Sexy, Sultry, Awesome Summer Nights

Painting Sexy, Sultry, Awesome Summer Nights

With summer in full swing, I've embraced a kind of nocturnal routine here in Florida. Night walks, bike rides, and swims feel cooler, refreshing, and magical. I've adjusted my painting hours to evenings, spending each day of July on the bridge to Ft. De Soto at sunset, immersing myself in the magic of each day's unique finale.

Here are some things I've learned:

  1. Summer sunsets are head-turning miracles. Every day offers a new show by nature, a gift we often forget to appreciate.

  2. Each Sunset/Twilight/Moonrise is bursting with unlimited beauty. There’s never enough canvas to capture every breathtaking moment of a sunset. Each session presents a race against time to capture the fleeting beauty.

  3. Painting from nature is invaluable. Plein air painting requires artists to step out of their studios and into the natural world, resulting in more accurate colors and spontaneous brushwork. It's a challenging but rewarding practice.

While I finish out the last few days of the month and gather the series for framing, I wanted to share some photos from the experience below:

Stay tuned to see all the paintings when they go live, framed up and ready for the world. You can also sign up here to see the works in my private exhibition this October.
